Sensitive Souls

dmag4.jpgHuman beings are any thing but a mixture of elements. They require a balance in order to maintain its sensitivity to the environment. Scripture in Monotheistic religion reports that man is made of fire, wind and clay. Perhaps, a Fire of passions and desires while frolicsome wind of imagination, moving incessantly through oceans and desserts, and clay which attracts all to itself. All these forces are reined with the power called mind; which keeps every element in balance. Mind bows down, in obedience to a Soul, which is timeless and eternal.

If Human personality is allowed to grow unhindered it so evolves that it tunes vividly to its environment. It remains in league with every thing around it; living and non-living. It can even listen to the soul of the world – when it is in distress. I have a friend, who is so sensitively organized that he can tune in to many things. He narrates an incidence when he had an overwhelming urge to go to a Mosque (a Muslim place of worship), where he meditates quite occasionally. Intrigued, he thought, why it was so. Does he have some free time in hand or is he inclined to go there in order to meditate and pray with a group? Why is this sudden urge and inclination to go to this particular mosque, where he is an occasional visitor? If any thing, he should be going to old place where he has been worshipping.  All those questions and urges made him more conscious of the issue. Being sensitively organized he decided to follow his intuition, only to realize that there was major terrorist attack killing innocent civilians in the mosque, almost at the same instance.

This may be a trivial chance event for some. If we are sensitively organized and put these isolated events together a picture begins to come forth. The world indeed has a soul – which appears to be in distress. The conflict among peoples, man killing another man, divide between rich and poor, the injustice and social inequity all lead to great distress. The soul of the world is bound to be in turmoil; no wonder we see natural calamites, extreme of weather, tsunami, earthquakes which are unprecedented. What is it trying to tell us? Can all listen to it? Yes they can if they are sensitively organized.

One can ask: How can we be sensitively organized? What is it to know the pain of excessive tenderness? Answer is: To suffer the crudeness of people and environment and not loose your sensitivity, to see death and dying and not to become callous, that is to be sensitively organized as an individual. To feel the fear and be brave in the face of danger; to cry often and feel the pain, that is to be human in its entirety. Indeed one has to be sensitively organized in order to be human. Angels are impervious to sense of loss and pain. Beasts are given to follow their instincts and desires. It is humans that experience the sensitivity of angels in the midst of carnal desires. This paradox, calls for balance between the various elements of human nature; indeed human beings are a mix of elements.

When God made human beings; the Angles objected to this new being. He remarked; you don’t know what I Know. Indeed, an eternal struggle will come forth out of this creature. He can be as noble as arch angels and indeed can fall-down as low as animals. So he put in all of them sensitivity, a guiding instinct, that will bring him home to his true nature, provided they keep it intact, keep it pure and true.  Almighty, aids in keeping this balance. Besides other means, He does this by allowing us to experience pain in our daily lives.

To be sensitively organized is to know the character of other person; rarely will we read people wrongly. A master can look at arc of an instrument and tell about its entirety. Those who are sensitively organized can do so about events and people? One can argue this will inevitably bring pain and suffering. It can, however one can also close himself to people and influences, if he so chooses.

Question is; why secular-minded person like me, given to material gain and losses, is writing some things on sensitivity and soul of the world. May be time has come for the world’s soul to deliver itself from the pain and anguish it has been experiencing. It has to do catharses; undo the burden of sins and call forth spirituality in those who are sensitively organized. It wants to deliver the message of love and salvation dictated to it by the will of its creator.

Life is Death, Death – the same Life.
Mr. Gurdjieff very often spoke about Death. But who could accuse him of inadequate life? He was/is the leader for many people…

    Ocean of regards,
